Ice Cream Social | September 9 at 5:30 PM
*Save the Date*

Are you a new parent looking to meet others in the community? Do you want to reconnect with folks you haven't seen over the summer? Join your fellow BCS families at our annual Ice Cream Social at the playground behind Fernwood at NE 33rd and Hancock. The PTA will be serving chocolate and vanilla ice cream. There will be vegan options available. Toppings will be fudge sauce, sprinkles, and whipped cream!

For those with sensory processing challenges or who have a hard time waiting in line, we will have Otter Pops available at a separate table with a pink balloon. There is usually a big turnout for this event, so expect lots of families, lots of noise, and lots of sticky faces. Bring your own water bottle; it will be a warm day! Please note that all students must have a grown-up present.

First General PTA Meeting
Monday, September 14 at 7 pm

The first PTA General Meeting will be held in the school library (or via Zoom) on Monday, September 14. All community members are invited to join! As the date gets closer, check out the Meeting Agenda to see what will be discussed this month and how to access the meeting via Zoom.

PTA Clothing Center Volunteer Opportunity
Monday, 9/28, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm

Each year, every PPS school PTA is asked to provide volunteers twice to support the PTA Clothing Center, a vital district-wide service at Marshall that helps PPS families access clothing and shoes for their students. Beverly Cleary’s volunteer day is approaching, and we’re seeking volunteers to lend a hand! Volunteers will help students find clothing and sort donations. Parents, grandparents, and community members are all welcome.

Last school year alone, the PTA Clothing Center served nearly 1,400 PPS students, making a powerful impact possible thanks to people like you. If you can help, please email communications@beverlyclearyschool.org.

It’s time for another exciting year, and an important part of Beverly Cleary School is our PTA.

BCS’ PTA supports critical academic needs, is an active voice in decisions that impact your child’s health, safety, and quality of education, and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community. We invite you to join and PTA for your child, because membership dues help make it possible to:

• Host community-building events like Spookarama and the Art Show
• Support educational enrichment activities like OBOB and Neurodiversity Week
• Celebrate and support our teachers through teacher appreciation week and grants

And so much more!

There is no wrong or right way to be involved - anything you can give, whether it's time, money, or input, will support your child’s potential. We invite you to join because we can do more together than apart - and it only takes 5 minutes!

Fall Enrichments

Fall after-school class listings and registration are available now!

Classes include arts, music, ultimate frisbee, chess, breakdance, D&D, STEM, and more. Partial scholarships are available to make these programs accessible to all families. Just tell a school counselor if you need one (after-school providers can often subsidize the remainder).

These classes build community, expand kids' interests, and support parents after school. BCS or the PTA does not endorse or sponsor them.

Join the Welcome Crew!

Would you be willing to answer questions and say hello to new families? If so, please join the Welcome Crew's mentor family list by contacting Kelsi Roberts at kelsi.p.roberts@gmail.com. If a new family wants to participate, you'll be connected to say hello, serve as a friendly face at the first school event, and answer (or redirect) questions about navigating the BCS community.

BCS Bike Bus

Save the Date | Spookarama 2026

Get ready for two nights of Halloween fun! Both nights will feature carnival activities, games, and food.

K–5 Night - Friday, October 23
Gentle entry and the Spooky Walk begin at 5:30 p.m., with the event opening to everyone at 6:15 p.m. The Haunted House, featuring 8th-grade actors, will run from 6:30–7:30 p.m. The evening ends at 8:00 p.m.

Middle School Night - Saturday, October 24
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with carnival activities, games, and food available throughout the evening. The event ends at 8:00 p.m.
