ANNOUNCEMENTS
Art Show | May 21, 5:00 - 7:00 PM
*THIS WEEK*
Our Art & Academic Night is coming up this Thursday evening, 5/21, from 5 - 7 pm! We’ll have food trucks where families can purchase dinner and snacks, face painters, student displays, and more. It’s always such a fun community event and a great chance to celebrate all of the students’ hard work. We hope to see you there this Thursday evening!
Special Bike Bus Events | May 22
*THIS WEEK*
The Climate Action Team at Grant High School is hosting a Bike Repair Grand Opening, and they've invited the Beverly Cleary Bike Bus to join in the fun! The team of high schoolers is building a culture of biking at Grant and in the surrounding community, and kicking things off with free bike repairs, bike-related activities, community-building, and a special visit from Coach Balto of the Alameda Bike Bus.
We'll do a special Friday morning Bike Bus to school, and will meet back on the blacktop at 3:15 pm to ride over to Grant High School. Please make sure your students have a chaperone for the afternoon portion.
Urgent Volunteer Opportunity | PTA President
The PTA is looking for a President for the 2026 - 2027 school year!
Maybe you’ve thought about getting more involved but assumed someone else would step up. The truth is, someone has to do it, so why not you?
This role is important because the PTA cannot function without a President. Without someone in this position, many of the things that make our school community special - community events, student enrichment programs, teacher grants, and more - could be at risk next year.
That said, you absolutely do not have to do it alone.
There is a lot of built-in support, including help from returning board members and guidance from the outgoing President. The PTA works as a team, and one of the biggest keys to success in this role is delegation. You do not have to personally handle every task. For example, someone else can facilitate meetings, lead committees, organize events, or take ownership of projects.
The role can also be shaped to fit your strengths and style. There is no single “right” way to be PTA President. Some presidents are highly organized planners, some are community builders, some are great communicators, and some simply care deeply about keeping our school connected and supported.
At its core, the PTA President helps keep everyone moving in the same direction and supports the incredible work already happening throughout our school community.
If you are interested, even just a little curious, or want to talk through what the role actually looks like, please reach out. We are happy to answer questions, share experiences, and help you decide if it could be a good fit for you.
Please email membership@beverlyclearyschool.org if you are interested or would like to learn more about this or other PTA leadership positions.
