Fun Run is May 15!

In the weeks leading up to the Fun Run, we’ll be sharing a weekly spotlight series highlighting some of the amazing PTA programs made possible by the dollars raised through this event. We also invite you to view this year’s PTA budget to see how these funds directly support our school community.

The Fun Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year! This fun-filled community event does so much more than get kids moving; it helps fund programs that make our school special all year long. Dollars raised through the Fun Run support important PTA-funded programs, including Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB), which fosters a love of reading, teamwork, and friendly competition while giving students the chance to engage deeply with great books. Fun Run dollars also support scholarships that help make after-school enrichment opportunities accessible to more students. Your support helps ensure these opportunities continue to enrich our school community, and we hope you’ll join us in making this year’s Fun Run a big success!

Call to join the PTA Safety Committee!

The PTA Safety Committee is being formed to advocate for clear, consistent safety practices, improved communication with families, and meaningful supports for students, staff, and the community. Central to this mission is promoting a positive school climate that secures the physical and emotional well-being of every student at BCS.

Art Show Volunteers

We’re still looking for classroom leads for the Art Show, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has already signed up, thank you for your support!

So far, volunteers have stepped up from five classrooms, and we’re hoping to fill the remaining classroom lead spots by the end of this week. If you’re able to help, we’d love to have you—please consider signing up using the link below.

Urgent Volunteer Opportunity | PTA President

The PTA is looking for a president for the 2026-2027 school year! The PTA cannot function without a parent in this role, potentially jeopardizing next year's community events, student enrichments, teacher grants, and more. If you are interested or have questions about this essential role or other PTA leadership positions, please email membership@beverlyclearyschool.org.

The PTA President directs the affairs of the PTA in cooperation with the other members of the executive committee/board. They ensure the membership is well-informed and clearly focused on meeting their goals and staying aligned with the PTA mission. The President oversees and coordinates the executive board's work to run the PTA effectively. They also serve as the PTA's official contact, communicator, and representative.

Tactical responsibilities include:

• Set the agenda and preside over all board and general meetings.
• Is an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee.
• Meet regularly with the principal to review and align PTA goals and activities with the school's needs.
• Ensure the PTA remains in good standing with Oregon PTA.
• Designated as an authorized signer for PTA checks, contracts, and authorizations for payment.
• Work with other PTA leaders to connect families, the school, and the community to support student success.
• Facilitate the transition and orientation of the incoming board.
• Lead the board in strategic planning and goal-setting.

Key qualities of a PTA President include:

• Focus on the PTA's purpose and vision
• Comfortable public speaker
• Juggles multiple tasks
• Great delegator and team player
• Fosters community connections

Movie Night 3-5 | Thursday, 4/30 at 6pm

Calling all 3rd - 5th graders!!! Join us for a fun movie night in the cafeteria! Enter through the cafeteria doors by the playground.

Bring a cozy blanket and pillows to relax, put up your feet and watch a movie on the big screen! We'll be watching Into the Spider-Verse!

There will be FREE popcorn! Drinks, snacks, and candy will be for sale - CASH ONLY (please bring small bills). You are welcome to bring your own drinks and food as well. Children must have an adult chaperone in attendance. Hope you can make it!

Teacher Appreciation Week | May 4 - 8

Coming soon—Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4th–8th! Let’s celebrate our incredible teachers and staff all week long. We have a variety of ways to show our gratitude, and plenty of opportunities to get involved before and after school. Be sure to check out the volunteer signup link below to join in.

Here’s what we have planned:

• Monday – Breakfast Day: PTA-sponsored breakfast for teachers and staff
• Tuesday – Notes Day: Let’s fill the school with messages of appreciation
• Wednesday – Outfit Day: Wear your teacher’s favorite color
• Thursday – Lunch Day: PTA-sponsored lunch for teachers and staff
• Friday – Flower Day: Bring a flower to school for your teacher

We’re also kicking things off with an after-school decorating party on Monday, May 4th, from 3:15 - 6:00 PM in the East Gym. Help us prepare for Notes Day by creating a collage of thank-you notes for each teacher to be displayed near their classroom. All are welcome, and no crafting experience is needed. We’ll have pizza!

Please complete the BCS PTA Communications Request Form (linked below) by Thursday to have your content in the Monday newsletter of the following week. Please know that we will only include information directly related to school-sponsored or PTA-sponsored events. We will let you know if your submission does not qualify. Questions?
