Teacher & Staff Grants Awarded by PTA

The PTA Grant Committee is happy to announce that it will be distributing $10,000 this fall to BCS teachers and staff.  The $10,000 was raised by the PTA from scrip sales and other school fundraisers, and will be spent in the classrooms, where it will benefit our students directly.  

The Committee granted over $700 for books, including Social Studies books and leveled reading sets, as well as over $800 for math supplies, including calculators for the 3rd grade.  The 8th grade science class was awarded over $1,000 for five new microscopes and 7th Grade science received $300 for three Go Motion Detectors.  The Hollyrood teachers will get a sorely needed new laminator to replace the one that broke earlier this year.  All students will benefit from over $2,500 granted to pay for vocabulary and handwriting curriculum.  The Committee also granted $600 for art supplies, and over $2000 for other non-curriculum classroom needs, like rugs, shelving, electric pencil sharpeners, bulletin boards, and white boards.  Other items funded include maps, a flip video camera, science films, and blank writing books.
