Spook-A-Rama 2009

This year's Spook-A-Rama is Friday, October 30th, 5:30 – 8:00 PM

If you know of any 5th to 8th grade student volunteers who would like to earn two community service hours by helping at Spook-A-Rama, please have them contact our student coordinator Kelly Rice. There is one time slot available for students on Friday afternoon (3:30-5:00 PM) and two time slots for the night of the event (4:45-6:45 PM or 6:30-8:30 PM) Students will not be allowed to work more than one shift, but they do get a free pizza dinner for their efforts.  Students can help serve food, decorate, supervise games or clean up.

We will also need help next week (approximately October 19-25) with bundling tickets for advance sales, so any students interested in that should contact Kirsten Chambers (503-287-5668) or Dee Santella (503-280-0448).

On Monday, large parent volunteer sign-up posters will be placed in both BCS campus lobbies. Please sign up for one or more volunteer shifts.  Room parents, please do what you can to help ensure that these important slots get filled.

We received a very generous donation of $200 from Fred Meyer this year!  But we will be collecting additional store bought bakery items for the Cakewalk.  Please bring in your cakes, pies, cupcakes, etc. on Tuesday 10/27 and Wednesday 10/28 and place them in the marked box in the Hollyrood campus lobby.  Alternatively, bring your bakery items to the Fernwood campus east gym on Friday 10/30 between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.  Start looking for pies, cakes, cupcakes on sale, buy them now and store them in a freezer or neighbor’s freezer until the event week.

Tickets will be sold at school the week of the event (playground at Fernwood campus and front entrance at Hollyrood campus).  Tickets cost 25 cents each.  Most games are 25 cents each. Cakewalk is 50 cents for two tries at a bakery prize.  Karaoke is $1. Glow in the dark necklaces will cost $2 each.

PLEASE BE AWARE THERE CAN BE VERY LONG TICKET LINES THE NIGHT OF SPOOK-A-RAMA…SO BEAT THE CROWDS, AVOID THE LINES, AND BUY YOUR TICKETS AHEAD OF TIME!

For those BCS students/families in need of financial assistance to attend, we are pleased to offer some scholarship money towards tickets this year.  If you are interested, please contact the BCS counselor, Cynthia Thomas for more information.  Lastly, for the safety of all, children will NOT be allowed to play on the poorly lit and unmonitored blacktop, playground, or field during the event.  This event will be contained entirely within the school building.  There will be a firm “One Entry, No Re-Entry” policy in effect for all students.  Thank you so much for helping to make this event a success!!
