Members Present

Site Council:  Rob Gibson, Tricia Barry, Teri Geist, Carol Schrader, Dana Barbarick

Additional Items   

  • Elected Site Council members should be listed in directory
  • A place needs to be designated to place meeting notes (per bylaws)

Updates

  • Teacher Change

- New teachers hired for fifth grade, Spanish, Music and PE

  • Spring Assessment Data

- Moved to next meeting agenda so that staff can review on 9/1 meeting
- Writing will be the basis of our SIP

  • 3rd Wednesday of the month will have late opening
  • There will be no Professional Development days after the 9/1 meeting – furlough days instead (pending)


Review of Bylaws   

  • Elections – late September/early October
  • Need 2-3 staff (Update: Koren La Tocha and Blake Robertson have volunteered to fill these positions)
  • Once staff is picked, parent members will be elected

Scope of Work This Year   

  • Mainly based on School Improvement Plan
  • Curriculum Mapping will move to teachers plate
  • School Culture will be addressed through a new Beverly Cleary Leadership Team made up of teacher representatives from each grade cluster:

-    K-1. 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, Sp. Ed.
-    Teachers will meet 2nd or 3rd Tuesday
-    Team will be used to structure PD time
-    Teams will meet and reps will report back on Tuesdays will other reps and Principal
-    Question:  Could one of the reps report back to Site Council to keep it in the loop

How Can Site Council Add Value to Our School This Year    

  • PD plans brought to Site Council to weigh in on
  • Much of this will be determined as the year progresses
  • Parent members and teachers can get a pulse from parents
  • Survey in the spring pertaining to school satisfaction this year – site council to generate questions

  • Approval of Agenda/Minutes

  • Approve parent rep. (Dana?) as co-chair
  • Leadership Committee
  • Communication with Parents
  • Community Issues
