District Updates (Linda)

  • Tours of both campuses very high – 77 families at Kindergarten Round-up – 46 registered (6 for half day)
  • Discipline Data

- Last year at this time – 394 timeouts (5th -8th)
- This year – 40 timeouts (2nd-8th)

Update on Funding for teachers wanting to plan over the summer (Carol & Linda)

  • Tom drafted grid by subject/class
  • Linda figured cost
  • Time could be used for curriculum mapping and methods to create longer term plan (compacting, differentiation, etc.)
  • Start with curriculum mapping, think about support materials and professional development

-  Take two content areas per year

-  Over three years, there will be a full set of maps

  • Choice of subject areas decided by grade level teams
  • Teachers to come in during summer and then train others at grade level during first PD day
  • The hope is that there will be a school-wide understanding of what students will know coming in
  • Funding will be for technical, support materials and teacher time
  • Next steps:

- Teachers to figure out which 2 subjects and who is willing to come in and work during the summer if funds are available

Vision Statement Update (Carol)

Carol met with PTA to check in about parent action statement – many ideas, not a lot of commonality

  • Wondering if we should wait?  Start again in the fall?
  • Concerns that having separate action statements is divisive?
