Scrip sales at both buildings have resumed and, for those of you that are new to the Beverly Cleary School community, Scrip is a very successful PTA Fundraiser.
Every Tuesday morning, orders are taken in the main hall at both schools for Scrip cards, which are essentially gift cards at a wide variety of local grocery stores, restaurants and retail stores. Completed Scrip orders can be turned in to Scrip volunteers on Tuesday morning by either you or your child, and need to include payment in the form of a check made out to "Beverly Cleary School PTA" or cash - we do not have the ability to accept credit cards as payment for Scrip orders.
The filled Scrip orders are returned to you on Thursday afternoon of the same week in one of the following ways. Either you can sign a backpack release form and have your Scrip order given to your child's teacher so that your child can bring your filled order home in their backpack, or you can look for a friendly Scrip volunteer in the main hall after school and collect your order from them. If neither of those options work well for you, let us know and we'll see if we can make some other arrangement.
Last year was the first year that Scrip was sold at both the Hollyrood campus and the Fernwood campus and it raised over $4000 for the PTA. The money comes from donations of anywhere from 2% - 47% of the face value of the Scrip card. That donation is made by the local merchants. The beauty of Scrip is that you do your regular, weekly shopping and buy nothing other than what you usually buy for your family and you pay the same amount that you would usually pay - it's the local merchants who contribute to the PTA - you contribute simply by shopping with Scrip gift cards instead of by paying for your groceries, meals or retail purchases with cash, a check or debit/credit card. With no extra cost to you, and your Scrip order delivered to your child's school, it really couldn't be much easier!
We're hoping to see many familiar faces at the Scrip table this year, and a lot of new faces as well. Last year, with an average of only about 20 families ordering Scrip per week we raised over $4000; imagine what we could do if that number doubled or tripled! We’re already off to a great start this year - almost $500 profit in the first two weeks of school, and the only requirement is to do your usual shopping/dining, but to pay for your purchases using Scrip. Please consider giving Scrip a try - once you see how easy it is, you won't be sorry!
